Local menu-planning firm offers the ‘Spotify of food’ - MenuAid

Meal kits have transformed dinner time for thousands of New Zealand families and while the big brands wax and wane in popularity, the segment continues to be worth millions of dollars each year. Customers who stick with the kits love the fact they remove indecision and lethargy over dinner options and come with everything needed to make weekly meals. Others however have fallen out of love with their inflexibility and expense. A Christchurch startup called MenuAid is aiming to disrupt New Zealand’s relatively new meal kit market with something slightly different, which it claims is better: a subscription, worth as little as $4 a week, to personalised recipes put together by high-profile chefs with automatic shopping lists attached.
